Food Forgives Fines and Provides Food Security to Children
Join us in helping provide food for children by donating in our Food for Fines Program.

Beginning April 7, National Library Week, and continuing through April 20, the CPRL Libraries and the NC Food Bank are working together to give you a chance to clear your library fines and help your community at the same time. The food brought in by our patrons provide food for children over weekends and the summer break.

Bring pantry goods into your local library and you can pay your fines without opening your wallet. During library hours any Craven-Pamlico Regional Library will waive one dollar ($1) in fines for each non-perishable food item donated.

Individuals without fines can participate in the food drive by bringing in items to anonymously payoff the fines for a child or young adult who cannot pay. This doubles your donation by providing food and access to knowledge.

The food must be unexpired and in undamaged condition. We can only accept hard packaging (cardboard, pouches or cans). Glass containers cannot be accepted. Suggested items are canned soup, meat, fruit, or vegetables, peanut butter, cereal, boxed pasta, crackers, and healthy snacks.

There is no limit to the amount of food accepted. The Food for Fines program only applies to overdue fines, not to fines due to lost or damaged items.
